Lynda Wilson

After studying and working as an architect, I am now exploring my interest in the forms of architecture and the environment through on-site sketching and photography before developing my ideas in drawing, painting, printmaking and artist bookmaking in the studio. I enjoy expressing my ideas in these ways because they give me a more immediate way of achieving completed works than does the often long process of realisation through architectural practice.

My main sources of inspiration come from design in the first half of the 20C, in particular the work of Le Corbusier and Matisse. I enjoy their bold forms and exuberant colour.

My recent work has focussed on the joy and colour of natural forms, the beach and harbour side huts, and anything to do with the sea and seaside. I have also been examining the nature of the city.

Biography

I studied architecture at Edinburgh College of Art, where I also taught for 20 years after a period in architectural practice.  I am now achieving my long term dream of working as an artist in various media and exhibiting in a range of exhibitions and artist book fairs.

I live and work in Edinburgh and am a member of the Artist Book Group in Edinburgh and Edinburgh Printmakers.
