Most recently, I graduated in Masters of Fine Art with distinction at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee (2022). I am a graduate member and have been using the facilities here at Edinburgh Printmakers for almost a year now. Having access to the print studio facilities and equipment has been invaluable for me to continue developing my art since graduating last year.

I explore the interplay between digital and analogue processes within my work by laser engraving a rasterized image onto laser plywood for relief printing. I enjoy working between both digital, contemporary methods and traditional approaches to printmaking, embracing elements of advanced technology as well as the physical process of printmaking.

I am inspired by the Scottish landscape, exploring contrasts in light and dark, suggesting the ever-changing atmosphere of the landscape. I draw from locations very familiar to me, such as the coastal areas of East Lothian. I am constantly drawn towards the sea, particularly costal rock formations and their unusual shapes and textures. Recently, I have made several relief print editions of the Bass Rock and the sandstone cliffs at Belhaven in Dunbar.

My art practice provides me with the framework to express my own unique response to the world around me. It has been important at this early stage in my art career to have access to the facilities to develop my art. I have found it such a friendly and nurturing environment to make art, and having the experience of the technicians on hand has been invaluable. I have felt welcomed into the Edinburgh Printmakers community and it’s been a great way for me to connect with and meet other Edinburgh-based printmakers.

I will be taking part in an exhibition with a group of printmakers connected through our love of print and making work at Edinburgh Printmakers. This exhibition is independent of Edinburgh Printmakers and will take place from the 3rd-29th September at the Leith Collective in Fort Kinnaird retail park. There will be flyers around the printmakers soon, so keep an eye out!
