Edinburgh Printmakers is proud to launch a new print edition by artist Rowan Paton, 'National Park'.

Paton created the print at Edinburgh Printmakers in 2022, using landscape as a way to explore mental health after being awarded the print edition award at the Scottish Society of Artists annual show in 2021.

"Using landscape, and particularly the mountain as a way to explore mental health, the original painting was about the chaos of a particularly dark period and how I find my way out of those, usually by looking at and then making my own environments."

The beautiful print uses 19 layers of screen-print to create a vibrant and complex work, produced by James Harrison as an edition of 30 prints. All prints are signed and numbered by the artist.

"It’s been such a privilege to work with James and Jordan! They have incredible knowledge, and have been very patient, so it was a total delight. I loved it. My painting process is very organic and that extends to the way I print, so I was very happy for them to use their instincts ... The Castle Mill studios are fabulous, so it was a very positive experience. I feel very lucky and grateful to have had the opportunity. "

Rowan Paton is an award-winning painter, living and working in Edinburgh.

Employing print, collage, wordplay, and pattern, her work is characterised by the development of imagined visual space. This seeks to explore various themes using humour, play and narrative.
