Join us for an artist led tour by The Partisan Social Club, exploring their exhibition 'Social Montage: Speak-Act-Print-Publish!'
The Partisan Social Club (PSC) was initiated by Andy Hewitt and Mel Jordan, formerly of the Freee Art Collective, and takes different formations for each new project. The PSC aims to create new political groups and alternative models of working together. Andy Hewitt and Mel Jordan will discuss the specific works in the space, the ethos behind their practice, and their residency in the studio at Edinburgh Printmakers.
Social Montage is a mechanism for acknowledging all aspects of the apparatus when conceiving artworks in the public sphere. The montaging of bodies, texts and actions onto and into public space creates new social arrangements and demonstrates the contingent nature of space, site and politics. Public Print is a way in which we can take our opinions onto the street in order to publish to each other.
This tour will be a small intimate event, with plenty of opportunity to ask questions. Places are extremely limited.
