Our new home at Castle Mill Works will make a unique contribution to Scotland's cultural landscape. Making a difference to thousands of people as the activities and opportunities offered by Edinburgh Printmakers will promote creativity and enrich lives:
Scottish talent within printmaking and the wider creative industries will be supported and nurtured. With a dedicated development programme, creative start-ups will be fully supported in our creative industry spaces. And, for the first time, we will have a space dedicated to providing a quality learning programme for young people - to help them to develop creative skills and to bring new audiences to printmaking.
Castle Mill Works will house an infrastructure of visitor services designed to enhance audience engagement, access and participation. People of all ages and backgrounds can enjoy and explore printmaking and creative activities all year round.
Inspire Creative Learning
Two larger, high-quality exhibition spaces will host diverse exhibitions and events designed to inspire people to connect with their own creativity. Edinburgh Printmakers will be a place for everyone to see, learn, make, talk about, and enjoy art. The state of the art Printmaking studio will expand the provision of printmaking education and courses.
By developing Castle Mill Works, an important part of the area’s distinctive heritage will be saved. It is a unique opportunity to combine social and architectural heritage with contemporary re-use of a building and will return Castle Mill Works to a place of production once again.
Castle Mill Works will act as a cultural anchor in the wider area of Fountainbridge, an area undergoing substantial development and regeneration. It will be a substantial driver of job creation and economic development.
